What are brylants?
A brylant is a diamond with a brilliant cut, although this term is often used for all cut diamonds, not necessarily with a brilliant cut.
Basics of diamond quality assessment
Currently, among all stones used in jewelry, diamonds have the most extensive and organized quality assessment system. This system is commonly referred to as 4C. The name comes from 4 English terms that describe the most important characteristics: weight (Carat), clarity (Clarity), color (Color), and cut quality (Cut).
Due to size, type of inclusions, and their location, it can be stated that there are no two identical diamonds in nature. Among the 4C components, only weight and cut quality can be objectively measured. Color and clarity are still assessed subjectively by experts.
Weight (Carat)
The basic unit of diamond weight is the carat. The name comes from carob tree seeds, which were used to weigh gemstones. One seed weighed approximately 0.2 grams (hence 1 carat = 0.2 grams).

Clarity
The most important feature of a diamond is its clarity. It determines to what extent the diamond is free from internal and internal-external characteristics. Clarity is assessed using a 10x magnification loupe.

Color
Diamonds occur in all colors. In nature, 98% of diamonds have colors ranging from white to yellow. Currently, all serious laboratories use the letter nomenclature created by GIA. The scale describes the degree of yellow tint saturation. A grade of D means complete absence, while Z is clearly yellow.

Cut Quality
Consists of three separate assessments: proportions, finish, and symmetry.
Proportions
Defines all dimensions, angles, and relationships between them. In a brilliantly cut diamond, light that enters the interior is reflected from internal facets and returns through the crown, creating a sparkle effect. If the diamond is too flat or too high, some light will escape, causing it to lose brilliance and appear less 'lively'.
Finish
Determines whether external characteristics are present that arose during the grinding process or stone use.
Symmetry
Describes how precisely the facets were cut, whether edges meet at a point, whether the table and culet are centered, and whether the girdle is of uniform thickness.
